At some point in time, every husband, boyfriend, fiance, or significant other will have to court your partner in a new way and a new destination. Traveling together is a time where your bond strengthens as you discover the world together with your better half. I have briefly described a few locations for you to travel once you feel you want to step up your game.

  1. Charleston, SC

Charleston’s architectural beauty, historical importance and incredible cuisine are all equations as to why it’s constantly rated as one of the top tourist destinations in the world. It’s amazing character coupled with the restaurant scene is sure to bring the two you closer as your marvel over all the Holy City has to offer.

  1. Savannah, GA

Savannah is Charleston’s sister, equally as beautiful but distinctive in her own right. There is no other city in the world with such beautiful oak trees and greenery in its downtown. There are dozens of city squares and amazing parks for your most romantic walk together. On top of that, you are allowed to consume alcohol in the streets. It’s great for a heavy libation couple with appreciation for nature.

  1. Nashville, TN

If your lady is any lover of rock and roll, the blues, country music, and doesn’t mind getting a little dirty, Nashville’s energy is sure to sweep the two of you away. No other place in the country will you be able to combine great music, food, art, and entertainment. It’s just flat out fun. If you are looking to party the night away with the Mrs. while grubbing on some fatty food at the end of the night, book your ticket to Nashville

  1. Keeywaidin Island, FL

Keeywaydin Island sits between Naples and Marco Islands. It’s completely cut off from the mainland, so if you are looking for beautiful isolated locations with nothing but 1-on-1 time this is the location. You will need to travel by boat, but once you get there it will feel like you brought your belle to island only for the two of you.

  1. Sea Island, GA

Sea Island is the second destination featured, but it’s gorgeous. This is a more relaxing elegant location the oozes with luxury. It’s home of two of the top five resorts and one of the top 5 hotel spas in the United States. It also has five miles of secluded beach land, amazing gulf courses, and shooting school. This place is new to me but provides relaxation and sophistication for the perfect southern couple.

Everything a Black Southern Beau Should Know by 30

By the time you turn 30, your family, friends, and significant other expect you to know and do certain things. The big three zero represents the transition from pre-adulthood to real adulthood. With that in mind, below is a list of things that all Black Southern Beaux should know by 30 (if not earlier).

Change a Tire

It’s going to happen. You will be out with your wife, kids, friends, or lady you are trying to impress, and you run over a nail or hit a pothole. Whomever is in your car will expect you to know how to change a tire. Though you may have thought ahead and paid for Triple AAA or emergency roadside  assistance, your love ones or potential significant will lose faith in your ability to protect them if you are not able to change a tire. If you don’t know this basic life skill, view this youtube clibe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joBmbh0AGSQ and practice.

Fire a Rifle

If you are not a gun lover yourself, chances are someone in your family has a shotgun above the mantle or in the back seat of the pick-up. You need to be able to handle yourself during target practice or the boys hunting trip. Your little cousins will be the people coming to you for advice on shooting and other coming of age milestones simply because you know how to fire a weapon.

Make a Signature Dish

Whether you are bachelor, married, or just practicing, knowing how to make a meal people drool over is the skill that will separate you from the pack. And no pork and beans and hotdogs do not count. Tip – You can’t go wrong with a grilled or sauteed steak with an original marinade, baked potatoes, and a fresh salad.

Tie a Bow-Tie

Assuming you have the basics down and can tie a neck-tie, knowing how to tie a bow-tie is the quintessential symbol of a true southern gentleman. You can wear it year-round and always stand out from the crowd. It’s original, classic, and debonair. Check-out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxKA9be_3Gk to learn.

Buy a Suit

At some point, you need to know how to buy a suit and what type of suit fits your body. While I’m fan of the modern suits from Suit Supply, Brooks Brothers has several fits that flatters every body for any southern occasion. If you are looking to up your game, check out tips from the Debener for the benefits of investing in a custom suit.

The south is made for cookouts, tailgates, and family reunions. To be a proper host, you have to know how to man the grill. Hamburgers and hotdogs just won’t cut it. Learn how to make some succulent bbq chicken, ribs, steak, and fish. Your guest will thank you for it.

Buy a Sophisticated Bottle of Wine

There is nothing better than drinking a glass of wine after a long day of work. It always pairs well with a meal or even a cigar. But by the time you hit 30, you really need to know the type of wine(s) you like that are not Barefoot, Yellow Tail, or Sutter Home (no offense). Check out one of my favorite wineries in MD here. Your family and friends will sure to be impressed.

I hope this was helpful. Please leave a comment if you have other tips for black southern beaux before they hit 30.
